Human Biology Workshop!

Calling all mini biology enthusiast and question askers!

Have you ever wondered what cells are? How do our lungs work? Or why do we need sleep?

Learn all about this and more in our human biology workshop!

Across five weeks, girls will learn how STEM is important in health and develop a better understanding on human biology.

Theme: Human Biology

Week 1:🦠 Microscopes and microscopic organisms

Week 2:🧬 Exploring DNA: what is it and how can we extract it from fruit?

Week 3: 👩🏻‍🏫Professionals week – exploring Radiology and Speech Pathology

Week 4: 🧠Exploring the brain

Week 5: 🎉Finale – a little bit of everything!

There will be plenty of time for open-ended exploration and creativity each week, so the girls can work at their own pace with support from Girls in STEM Club expert volunteers!

Who: Girls 7-12 years old (students enrolled in primary school, including homeschool)

Location: Port Macquarie Library, 32 Grant Street, Port Macquarie, NSW 2444

When: Saturday 11:30am – 1pm, 11:15 drop off

Date: October 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st and November 7th

Cost: Completely free!

Girls in STEM Club is a weekend STEM Club program, in partnership with Port Macquarie library. It is made possible due to funding from the New South Wales Government Regional STEM Community Activity Seed Grant, allowing us to provide opportunities for young girls in the Hastings region to engage with STEM.
