Girls in STEM Club  

About the program:

Girls in STEM Club is for primary school girls aged 7-12 who have an interest in STEM or just want something new to try! Girls in STEM Club runs for 5 consecutive Saturdays with the same group of girls each week. For the 5 weeks we will focus on one component of STEM. STEM club is being run in partnership with the Port Macquarie library and will be held in their conference room.

The initiative is about showing young girls in the community of Port Macquarie the opportunities in STEM.

🧪        Hands-on workshops where students get to create, explore, and experiment

The workshops will be hands-on and interactive where the students will be able to build, create and experiment. One of the workshops will include a presentation and activities with young women in different STEM degrees and careers. This will open the students’ eyes to opportunities early on and give them insight into a variety of different STEM careers.

All workshops are completely free for the students as everyone involved will be volunteering their time. This is made possible by partnership with Port Macquarie library and through grant funding provided by the New South Wales Government. I am very passionate about opportunities in STEM for young girls and I know first hand the impact of being in a supportive space with opportunities can have on a young person.
